Hot off the Press

At JAK Printers in Byculla, Mumbai, the first sheets rolled off the press, marking the beginning of the book's production run. Spread after spread emerged in immaculate colour, carrying decades of Kinetic's story onto paper for the very first time. Before long, neat stacks of freshly printed pages stood waiting for the next stages - cutting, folding, gathering and binding - each one bringing the finished volume a little closer to reality.

For author Adil Jal Darukhanawala, it was a particularly satisfying milestone. Accompanied by his better half, he visited the press to witness the occasion firsthand. Standing beside the towering Heidelberg printing machine, the couple posed proudly with a full-size print of the book's cover, celebrating the transition from months of painstaking work to full-scale production.

Every major publishing project has a defining moment when months of planning give way to the unmistakable rhythm of the pressroom. The smell of fresh ink, the steady thrum of machinery and the sight of the first printed signatures are reminders that a manuscript has become something tangible.

With the presses now running, there was no turning back. The journey had entered its final stage, and the finished books were finally on their way.
